Who We Are
Sapidyne Instruments Inc. was founded in 1995 by Tom Glass and Steve Lackie to manufacture and market instruments based on their patented Kinetic Exclusion Assay (KinExA®) technology. The name Sapidyne was derived from Sapid, which is Latin for pleasing to the mind while dyne is Greek for power or force. Therefore, Sapidyne means an intellectually pleasing power or force.
Early instruments were placed at research labs such as Xavier University, the United States Army, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Their work helped to showcase the advantages of KinExA technology. Through this early work, and the many collaborations since, KinExA technology has become a popular tool for measuring binding interactions in top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies along with many universities and research labs.
Sapidyne is now operating worldwide with its headquarters in Boise, Idaho. The company is still run by its founders who continue to pursue their interest in developing better measurement tools for scientists. As the company continues to grow, we still maintain an emphasis on support and learning from our customers. The outcome is continual growth in our understanding of binding and continual improvement in our measurement tools.
